190 people completed the survey online and 75 paper copies have been deposited at the Co-Op. We would like to thank the residents of the village for a fantastic 265 surveys being returned. This was above expectations for the project.

The surveys are now with CFO who will arrange for the analysis of all the data that has been gathered, starting with a report on the demographic profile of those who have responded. It is thought that the views of younger residents are likely to be insufficiently represented and there will be further discussion between councillors and CFO about how to correct this. Consolidation of the returns and the analysis are expected in January followed by discussion on the next steps.

Project description

Looking toward a bright future for the village, the 'Dorchester 2030 and Beyond' project is designed to create a vision for how life will look and work in the village in 2030 and beyond.

The Parish Council want to include local residents, businesses and other stakeholders at every step.

The 'Dorchester 2030 and Beyond' vision is designed to complement the existing Neighbourhood Plan, not replace it. The Neighbourhood Plan focusses primarily on planning and is a very technical document, whereas the 'Dorchester 2030 and Beyond' vision goes beyond just planning and we hope to look at almost every aspect of life in the village.

The consultative process was kicked off at the Annual Parish Meeting attended by around 80 people in the Abbey on 28th June where the attendees generated a fantastic amount of ideas, suggestions and opinions about the current and future issues and opportunities for our wonderful village.

Since then, Cllrs Mike Corran, John Taylor and the Clerk have been working with Community First Oxfordshire (CFO), a local community development charity, to develop the questionnaire and set up the reporting process.

These discussion meetings are on-going and a survey of all residents will be launched in the second half of September to be completed by the end of October.
